International Women’s Day
At Brugel Creative we don’t just #BalanceforBetter we tip the scales! #IWD #InternationalWomensDay #womensupportingwomen
The theme for this year’s International Women’s day is “Balance for Better”, and we think it’s a brilliant initiative. A balanced world is a better world. For all of March, and in honour of International Women’s Day, we’re celebrating women and their achievements. We’ll be doing profile pieces on each of our female Brugel Creative team members (our chat with administrative wunderkind, Belinda Harris, is already up on the blog), interviews with some of our strong and talented female clients, like Michelle Thomas and Marg Mowczko, and more.
How can you help forge a more gender-balanced world? We here at Brugel Creative want to encourage you to: celebrate women’s achievements; raise awareness against bias; and take action for equality. All because collective action and shared ownership for driving gender parity is what makes International Women’s Day successful.
And that’s exactly what we’ve done at Brugel when building our own team. In the digital design field, largely dominated by men, the Brugel team is made up of women (except for one token male: shout out to our fantastic IT manager, Rob). We haven’t just achieved a gender balance, we’ve redressed the current imbalance by tipping the scales! But, when you’re committed to looking past conscious and unconscious bias, taking action – like employing the best person for the job, and celebrating the achievements of women, you realise that there’s no shortage of intelligent, creative, renaissance women making all kinds of remarkable contributions in their fields and creating a more balanced world.
We couldn’t agree more with the organisers of International Women’s Day, who have left us with this pearl from Gloria Steinem, world-renowned feminist, journalist and activist: “The story of women’s struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist nor to any one organization but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights.”
Make International Women’s Day your day and do what you can to truly make a positive difference for women.
